Ankle Dorsi-Flexion                        Test your ankle flexibility:
After any foot or ankle injury (ankle sprain, plantar fasciitis, foot fracture, etc), you must regain full Dorsi-flexion of your ankle to avoid further injury and to return to full function. Put your foot on a chair and use your arm to put moderate pressure on your knee to bring it forward, but keep your heel on the chair. If you were to draw a straight line up from your toes, you should be about half way up your tibia (lower leg bone). Picture on the right has limited motion. You should NOT feel any “jamming” along the front of the ankle, if you do, you have a talus issue and NOT tight calves or Achilles tendon. The problem is in the joint and should be addressed. Questions? let me know, start testing…
